What RIVET XP is★ tribute edition

Two kinds of XP,
one small app.

RIVET XP is a themed task manager and productivity suite: performance graphs, a process list, focus timers, and an experience-point rank system. It is deliberately small — one window, four tabs, no configuration ritual.

It also happens to be our love letter to the operating system that turned a quarter of a century old this October. Silver bevels, a blue horizon, chunky buttons that look like you can press them. Modern app underneath — .NET 10, packaged and signed for the Store, running on Windows 10 and 11.

★Did you know?

Windows XP was released to manufacturing on 24 August 2001 — the day the code was finished and signed off, five weeks before it reached shops on 25 October. It was still running on millions of machines a decade after support ended. It is the reason a whole generation knows what a process list looks like.

RIVET XP is not affiliated with Microsoft, and it is not a Windows XP clone. It is an original app wearing a period-appropriate suit.

Twenty-five years since a lot of us met our first process list.

RIVET has always been about the same thing: seeing what your machine is doing and having the controls to do something about it. That instinct is older than this project — it came from an era when the tools were beige, the buttons were fat, and pressing something felt like it did something. RIVET XP ships in that spirit, on the anniversary of the day XP was signed off.
